BROOKLYN WANTS TO BAN BBQs AT PARKS!!!!

MANHATTAN BEACH, NY (PIX11) -- One Brooklyn neighborhood civic association is trying to crack down on barbecues in public parks.
The Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Association is pushing to ban charcoal grilling in Manhattan Beach Park, one of seven public parks that currently allow it.
Dr. Alan Ditchek, the neighborhood association president, is fueling the new fire against grilling by claiming that they charcoal cookouts are almost as toxic as smoking cigarettes.
"Inhaling all of that fuel from charcoal, in one place, can be dangerous and can even cause a stroke," said Ditchek, who is a family doctor.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg signed a bill in February that will bansmoking in public outdoor areas, including city parks and beaches.

That measure goes into effect on May 23 -- and will outlaw smoking in the city's nearly 1,700 public parks, beaches, boardwalks and marinas.
Ditchek has written letters to Mayor Bloomberg and the City's Health Commissioner and is dead serious about his proposed ban on charcoal grilling, but seem people don't agree with him.
"He must be a vegetarian, how can he not love the charcoal taste?  This is ridiculous," said Frank Mela, eating a burger at El Greco Diner nearby.  "Hasn't barbecue been around since the caveman?  Don't take a away my burger."
Ditchek says a new Journal of the American Medical Association study in March supports his claims, and Ditchek adds that gas grilling is not only better for your lungs, but for the environment too.
