RUSSELL SIMMONS RETURNS TO DEF JAM AS C.E.O!




GLOBALGRIND.COM- Earlier this week, Russell Simmons made a deal with Def Jam Recordings to return to the label as the President/CEO after the departure of LA Reid.  Russell began Def Jam in 1984 with Rick Rubin and went on to release classic albums from Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Jay-Z and many more.  He sold Def Jam to Universal in 1999, and since has not been involved in the day-to-day operations. 
In his new role as President/CEO, Russell will oversee the entire roster of Def Jam artists including: Kanye West, Rihanna, Rick Ross, Ludacris, Big K.R.I.T, Young Yeezy and many others. 
Russell has appointed his brother, Joseph "Rev. Run" Simmons as the Senior Vice President of Artist Development.
