"The Holland Tunnel to New York was temporarily closed Friday after cops shot a motorist who failed to stop and then allegedly tried to run officers down, sources said.
The gunplay unfolded shortly before 7:00 p.m. when a car with two men inside passed through toll plaza on the New Jersey side, according to preliminary accounts.
A Port Authority official ordered the driver to stop for an unknown reason, but he refused. Officers pursued the car into the tunnel, and the suspects' car was boxed in, sources said.
When at least one officer approached the car, the driver "tried to use the car as a weapon" by running down one of the PAPD cops. Sources said one of the officers may have been dragged. This prompted one officer to fire several times, sources said." Read More - via NYPost
