I Don't Get a Check?!?!?!: Gov't Shutdown Impact On New York


"The clock is ticking toward a midnight Friday deadline to reach an agreement on a federal budget. The impact of a government shutdown will be widespread and would affect social security services, tax returns, passport applications, food stamps and access to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Republicans battling with President Barack Obama over budget cuts plan to hold a House vote Thursday on one-week legislation to avoid a government shutdown, despite opposition from the White House and Senate Democrats pressing for a longer-term solution.
